How the Bonner Boys Started

The Bonner Boys began in 2004 after the passing of Brent Bonner – a friend, teammate, and family man whose #26 jersey still shows up in our colours and handles.

Friends and community members came together to support Brent’s young son and family. What was meant to be a one-time push turned into a standing promise: if Uxbridge needed some extra muscle, the Boys would show up.

Over time, those early fundraisers evolved into regular events, bigger projects, and a community club that’s still entirely volunteer-run and focused on one thing — helping the people of Uxbridge and surrounding communities.

What the Boys Do Now

These days, the Bonner Boys Community Club:

  • Runs events like the weekly Cruise-In Car Show, Ribfest, and tournaments

  • Helps fund and build community projects such as the splash pad by the arena

  • Supports youth, families, and local organisations when they need a boost

  • Brings people together around the simple idea that neighbours should look out for each other

There’s no big bureaucracy, no complicated mission statement – just a lot of time, energy, and heart poured back into the place we live.

Not-for-Profit, Not Distant

The Bonner Boys Community Club is an Ontario not-for-profit corporation. That means:

  • We’re a formal, recognised organisation

  • We operate on a not-for-profit basis for community benefit

  • We are not a registered charity, so we don’t automatically issue official donation tax receipts

If you’re curious about how not-for-profits and charities differ in Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency has clear guidance – and we’re always happy to point you to the right info or talk it through.

By the Numbers

The Bonner Boys Community Club is an Ontario not-for-profit corporation. That means:

  • Founded: 2004

  • Funds raised/given back: $1.6M+ to local projects, programs, and people

  • Signature build: Bonner Boys Splash Pad by the Uxbridge Arena

  • Weekly staple: Cruise-In Car Show, Thursdays May–September at Elgin Park

Behind every dollar is a ticket sold, a car parked, a rib eaten, a volunteer shift covered, and a story of someone deciding Uxbridge is worth investing in.
